When the rooms under an attic are hard to keep cool, the insulation on the attic floor is one of the first things worth checking. Blown-in loose-fill spreads across an accessible attic floor and around joists, reaching corners that are difficult to cover by hand. We look at what is already up there before suggesting an addition or a replacement.
The full blown-in insulation guideInsulation pushed aside during earlier repairs or attic visits can leave bare patches above bedrooms and living areas.
Loose-fill works best where the attic floor can be reached and there is room to distribute material evenly.
Once deteriorated insulation has been cleared, blown-in material is one way to rebuild coverage across the attic floor.

WHEN TO CONSIDER IT
If one bedroom, or the room under a particular part of the roof, never seems to cool down, the attic floor above it may be part of the picture. The inspection helps tell whether the existing insulation can stay and be topped up or needs attention first. Storage platforms, recent roof repairs and the position of the attic hatch all affect the plan, so mention them when you call.
YOUR PROJECT, STEP BY STEP
We ask which rooms are uncomfortable, then look at the attic floor above them: how much insulation is there, its condition and anything limiting access.
Air sealing and any agreed preparation come before new material. Free air sealing and sanitation are included with insulation service.
Loose-fill is distributed across the agreed attic area to the planned depth, and we show you what was covered and any areas left out because of access.
THE QUESTIONS THAT MATTER
Sometimes. Material that was only moved during earlier work can often be leveled and topped up, while damaged or deteriorated insulation may need to come out first. That decision is made during the inspection.
Blown-in insulation adds coverage on the attic floor, while spray foam is usually discussed for roof decks and open cavities. The right choice depends on how the attic is built and used, so ask for both options to be explained against your space.
Tell us where you store things and how you reach them. The plan should keep the access you need and avoid treating a storage platform as open attic floor.
It can help, but afternoon heat may also come through windows, ducts or air leaks. Telling us when the room heats up gives the inspection a better starting point.
